Dr. Tracy Kerr, DVM, Owner

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Tracy Kerr grew up on a cattle and sheep farm just outside of Boissevain, Manitoba, where her love for animals first began. She has been part of the veterinary field since 2000, starting as a volunteer at the Winnipeg Humane Society, and officially became a veterinarian in 2006 after graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Nineteen years later, she continues to dedicate her career to caring for pets.

At home, Dr. Kerr shares her life with a 7-year-old Border Collie named Bark Wahlberg, who enjoys being the only pet since he prefers not to share the spotlight. Colleagues describe her as kind, empathetic, and full of humor. These qualities shine through in her work and in the way she connects with clients.

When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Kerr enjoys hiking, camping, biking, reading, and spending time with her husband and Bark. She has always been happiest surrounded by animals, and her fascination with biology and medicine fuels her passion for veterinary care.

Dr. Kerr is known for her sense of humor—she likes to think she tells the best jokes—but beyond the laughter, she brings a versatile skill set to the clinic. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and considers herself a true jack-of-all-trades. With a particular passion for internal medicine, she also finds great fulfillment in the fast pace and challenges of urgent care and emergency cases.

Guided by the belief that “In a world where you can be anything, be kind” and inspired by Anatole France’s words, “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened,” Dr. Kerr brings compassion and empathy into every aspect of her work.

When it comes to advice for pet parents, she highlights the importance of preventive care. Dental health, she notes, is essential for helping pets live long, pain-free lives, and microchipping is equally important to ensure pets stay safe and always connected to their families.

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Rebecca Blair, known to everyone as RBK, grew up in Victoria, BC. She has been working in veterinary medicine for 20 years and continues to dedicate her skills and compassion to caring for pets.

At home, Rebecca has Luna, a very cute little Shih Tzu who brings joy to her days. Her coworkers describe her as calm, patient and caring, with excellent attention to detail—qualities that make her an invaluable member of the veterinary team.

Outside of the clinic, Rebecca loves to create, whether that means painting, writing stories or making candles. Her passion for veterinary medicine began early when she and her dad would rescue and rehabilitate birds and rabbits, sparking a lifelong dedication to helping animals.

Within the clinic, Rebecca has a special interest in anesthesia and dentistry. She finds it especially rewarding to send a pet home with a clean, healthy smile, knowing it makes a real difference in their comfort and well-being.

Rebecca lives by a simple but meaningful motto: “I treat every pet that walks through the door like I would my own until they walk back out the door.” Her advice for every pet parent is to take plenty of pictures of their pets and consider pet insurance, particularly during the first three to five years of their life.

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Mackenzie Schell, a Registered Veterinary Technologist at Chuka Animal Clinic, grew up in Leroy, Saskatchewan, and has been working in veterinary medicine for nine years. Her passion for animals has always guided her career path. While she once considered nursing, she ultimately chose to follow her true calling—caring for pets and supporting their health and wellbeing.

At home, Mackenzie shares life with Guinness, a Labrador Retriever, and Rajah, a Domestic Shorthair cat. Her colleagues describe her as both easy-going and strong-willed, a combination that helps her adapt to challenges while standing firm in her commitment to excellent care.

Outside the clinic, Mackenzie enjoys hiking, camping and giving back through community service. She also brings a unique background in firefighting and emergency medical services, experience that strengthens her calm and capable approach in high-pressure situations.

Within Chuka Animal Clinic, Mackenzie’s “superpower” lies in surgery, anesthesia and urgent care. She remains steady under pressure, even in the most intense emergencies, ensuring pets receive the best care possible when it matters most.

Her advice to every pet parent is to seriously consider pet insurance. Life can be unpredictable, and as she says with a smile, “Trust me, I have a Lab!”

Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist, Veterinary Technologist Student

Briana Campos Ruiz is a Vet Assistant/Receptionist and Veterinary Technologist Student at Chuka Animal Clinic. She grew up in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, and has been working in veterinary medicine for three years, bringing energy, dedication, and a calm, capable presence to the clinic every day.

At home, Briana shares her life with Enzo, a 10-month-old Pug; Bella, a 13-year-old Yorkie cross; Gretta, a 9-month-old Miniature Dachshund; and two Holland Lop bunnies, Anakin and Palpatine. Her coworkers describe her as bubbly, enthusiastic, and always willing to learn.

Outside of work, Briana enjoys paper crafting, refinishing furniture, crocheting, spending time with family, and playing board games. Her love for animals, combined with her background as a retired paramedic and RCMP officer, inspired her to transition these skills into a veterinary setting.

Within the clinic, Briana’s superpower lies in urgent care and surgery. She remains exceptionally calm under pressure, sometimes even too calm, which allows her to handle intense situations with confidence and precision.

Her favorite motto is “Sometimes we sail with the wind, sometimes we sail against it, but we must sail. Never drift nor set anchor.” Briana’s advice to pet parents is to get pet insurance. It may not seem necessary when pets are young, but it can make a big difference as they grow older.

Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist

Paige Radmacher, a Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist at Chuka Animal Clinic, grew up in Edenwold, Saskatchewan. She has been working in veterinary medicine for three years and continues to bring enthusiasm and dedication to the clinic every day.

Paige currently does not have any pets but is looking forward to welcoming a dog into her life in the near future. Her coworkers describe her as a caring advocate for patients, always eager to help, enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Outside of work, Paige enjoys spending time with friends and family, being on the farm around cows and horses, and crafting. Growing up in a farming family with a strong background in livestock inspired her decision to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Within the clinic, Paige especially enjoys urgent care. She finds it rewarding to be involved in different cases and to contribute to treatments and diagnostics that make a real difference for pets.

Her favorite motto is “You don’t know unless you try.” She believes this applies to all aspects of life, encouraging others to take chances and embrace new opportunities because you never know where they may lead.

Paige’s advice to every pet parent is simple: if there is ever a concern with your pet, don’t wait weeks. It is always better to be seen earlier, as most times the issue can become worse and more costly to treat if left too long.

Meet Our Chief Fetch Officer (CFO): Bark Wahlberg

Bark is unlikely to be at the clinic regularly as he can be quite disruptive. He won’t be greeting visitors at the clinic. He is, however, still a very important consultant to our clinic.

Fun Facts About Bark Wahlberg:

  • Loves to fetch frisbees (not tennis balls)
  • He does indeed love belly rubs from new friends
  • He is a treat connoisseur.
  • He is “supervising” the opening of the clinic
  • Once attempted to answer the phone (results were mixed)
